Published by
Sophia Beckmon from Oregon City won the Three Rivers League district title in the long jump with 20-7.75 on Wednesday on her home turf to qualify for the state championships next weekend, and also advanced in the 100 (11.71) and 200 (23.43) to Friday's district finals. Both of those times were wind-legal PRs. Beckmon is the U.S. leader in the long jump with a mark of 22-4. Mia Brahe-Pedersen from Lake Oswego safely qualified for Friday's finals in the 100 and 200, with times of 11.36 and 23.47, respectively. The two friends discuss their bond, which goes back to middle school, and what it means to them to perform at such a high level together.
